I've been using and buying Apple Macs for twenty years. In that time they have gone from the plucky underdog, favoured by those in the creative industries - my self included. To the unified slick uber-mech product design company. Unfortunately along the way a little something has gone missing. Apple has decided to make the Apple experience unified and controlled. The aim is to make the experience painless, slick and easy for the user. The end result has created an experience which doesn't speak to the original Apple fans. People like myself who prefer to customise and tailor their computer experience are looking to scratch that itch.
Whenever I read Ubuntu forums I often hear how Ubuntu is designed to show Windows users a better experience, but there is little discussion that some Apple users are looking to "Think Different" again. Ubuntu offers the ability to tailor the desktop experience to suit the users, without the increasingly restrictive sand-boxing that Apple is creating.
