Ubuntu phone: Android may help

There seems to be a lot of buzz around the idea of an Ubuntu Phone. As I see it there are a number of factors which will need to fall into place for it to succeed. The first step is to create an eco-system. Apple has demonstrated the power of integration, the iPhone is closely interlinked with every other device that you purchase from Apple. This closeness, via icloud, enables data to flow freely within the enclosed eco-system. The idea has become so powerful that Microsoft is mimicking the whole idea and attempting to integrate their phone with the desktop experience and the new tablet format.
An Ubuntu Phone would, ideally, integrate closely with your desktop or laptop and if Ubuntu is thinking about a phone logically an Ubuntu powered tablet. All of this needs to be tied together with a robust and sophisticated version of Ubuntu 1.

Android may help
Apple and Microsoft are dependent on encouraging developers to work, as much as they can, exclusively for them. When you have the resources and deep pockets that these two companies have it would seem prudent to take advantage of the open nature of Android. If the Ubuntu architecture could be created, perhaps like wine, to enable the seamless running of Android applications on the Phone. It could create what Android doen't have at the moment synergy with what people currently use. Desktops, laptops and in the near future tablets. The important thing is to get to the punch first and create the eco-system so that an Ubuntu Phone is possible rather than could be possible.
