Nexus integration

Does the Nexus 7 indicate the future for tablets. Apple would appear to agree. A week after Google launches the Nexus 7, Apple leaks that there is a 7inch iPad in the works. Apple isn't the kind of company that reacts to the competition, rushing to produce a product in response. I'm sure that Apple has had this prepared for at least a year and probably on the drawing board for a number of years. The iPhone was hard, a lot of new technology in a small form factor, but it guaranteed good returns from the carriers. The iPad piggy-backed off the iPhones' advances within a more spacious frame work. A 7inch model was probably always considered but why rock the boat when the iPhone and iPad dominate the market.
Previous 7inch models such as the Galaxy Tab and numerous Android models have failed principally because of the operating system. Slow, flawed and lacking compelling software. Google's new device is allegedly fast and competent. It needs to deliver an experience that is not just based on specs. Otherwise after a couple of weeks people will tyre of the lack of content and integration not just with the web but the environment around them. Apple's TV may not be a dominate force at the moment but it indicates that the iPad and iPhone are moving to integrate not just with the digital world but with our homes.
